The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were born in San Francisco in the earliest years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Their mission was clear; comfort and assist individuals in their community who were sick and dying, and to boldly go where no nun had gone before to bring awareness of this horrific and ravaging disease to the common man.

Thirty years later, this disease is still disabling and killing on a global scale.

Thirty years later, your Sin Sity Sisters are here to continue boldly seeking out new and distinctive ways of assisting those among us who are not so disabled that they want to give up all semblance of normalcy in their lives.

The following is an outline of the why and how the Sisters plan the next step forward for the Las Vegas HIV/AIDS community.

Eligibility for the Aids Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) is determined by very strict financial guidelines. Drug assistance services (co-pays and procurement) are available for individuals whose income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level. Any client whose monthly income is above the 200% level is denied assistance with their drug needs. These clients are the ones we must help.

SADAP will address the AIDS community of working poor that are just above the county standards. The grants will provide coordinated medical co-pays and drug assistance alternatives. SADAP will become a community Aids Service Organization resource that is not addressed at this time, and because of the drastic cost of living increases in the valley it is more imperative than ever to tackle this issue.

Program:

  1. Clients will go through standard CBO intake procedure to determine eligibility level and establish a care plan.
  2. CBO will refer clients deemed ineligible for assistance with medications not listed on the state formulary to SADAP.
  3. CBO will refer clients deemed financially ineligable for HIV medication assistance to SADAP.
  4. SADAP directors will review each case individually.
  5. Approved clients will recieve assistance in one of the following categories:
    1. Authorization to have prescriptions for HIV medications filled by SADAP pharmacy(s).
    2. Authorization to have prescriptions for medications not listed on the state formulary filled by SADAP pharmacy(s).
    3. Payments to Heath Insurance companies for continued coverage.
    4. Payments to SADAP pharmacy(s) for required co-pays.
